Contact Lenses

Eyeglasses can limit your field of vision and be easily broken, misplaced, smudged, or fogged.

Contact lenses can relieve these daily issues and liberate you from the limitations of eyeglasses.

Discover your contact lens options at our Del Mar, CA, practice and see why so many patients prefer contacts over glasses.

Contact Lenses Change Your Perception and Others' Perception of You

A Full Field of Vision

Although eyeglasses are a tried and true method of vision correction, they limit your field of vision. Contact lenses allow you to experience an uninterrupted field of vision

Suited for Active Lifestyles

If you work outdoors, eyeglasses can easily become fogged or smudged. If you live an active lifestyle, they can also slide down your nose or become damaged. Contact lenses, on the other hand, remain in place all day

Look How You Like

If you are dressing up for a special occasion, it can be difficult to match your outfit to your eyeglasses. But with contact lenses, you can showcase your natural features and lose the frames

Ideal Candidates for
Contact Lenses

/

Thanks to recent advancements in optometry, more patients than ever are able to wear contact lenses. Our practice can offer contacts to accommodate patients with astigmatism, chronic dry eye (CDE), or those who need multifocal lenses. However, patients who suffer from severe allergies or those with recurring eye infections may not be good candidates for contact lenses.

A 5-Star Review From One of Our Del Mar Patients

This was one of the best medical experiences I have had in quite some time. Dr. Wong was extremely attentive to explaining all tests, results, and implications. Moreover, the front office supervisor, Ellie I believe her name was, was a total sweetheart. She made my visit and selection of eyewear feel like a luxury purchase. Looking forward to referring this practice to friends & family! Krizia B. - Demandforce, 2022

Dr. Wildon Wong, the head of our contact lens and edging department, can recommend a lens that matches your preferences, lifestyle, and other concerns during your eye exam.

Soft vs. Hard Contacts

When choosing your contacts, one of the first major decisions will involve the type of material that makes up your lenses.

Soft Contact Lenses

Soft contact lenses are made from a flexible material, and they are the most prevalent material option for daily contact lenses.

Soft lenses allow oxygen to flow through the contact into your eye for a more natural experience. They are often more comfortable and a great option for those new to contacts, but the soft material also makes these lenses more susceptible to tearing.

Hard Contact Lenses

Hard contact lenses are made from more rigid materials and are more durable as a result.

Hard lenses can provide clearer vision than their soft counterparts and are less prone to deposit buildup from your eyes. While they tend to last longer and can be cheaper than soft lenses, hard lenses are not as easy to adjust to and require more maintenance.

What to Expect
During Your Fitting

/

We perform contact lens fittings for patients who are new to contacts and also for long-time wearers during their annual eye exam. Doing so ensures an accurate and comfortable fit that can prevent damage to the eyes. At the end of your eye exam, one of our optometrists will carefully measure each eye to ensure that your new contacts are of the proper diameter, curvature, and refractive correction.
